Alexander Zhitenev examines in this boook the concepts of poetry and the poetic in Russian literature in 1970–2010. Furthermore, the historical transformations of ekphrasis as a special “poetological” genre are analyzed. The author notes that the main trend in the development of poetological ideas is associated with the “desubstantialization” of poetry: The common starting point for all modern poetologies is the idea of the text as an “event”, “situation”, and “environment”. In ekphrasis, the blurring of semantic boundaries, so characteristic for modern poetology, continues: ekphrasis loses its “solid” features, tending to stop the “performance” (O. Sedakova), to suppress vision (B. Dubin), to present what is real only in the experience of memory and imagination (V. Ivaniv).

Iванiв).
