Academic Career:

David Hock graduated with honors from Brown University in 2009 with a degree in Slavic and Comparative Literature and received his M.A. from Princeton in 2014. He took a hiatus from academic life from 2017 – 2020 and is now grateful to be at the University of Trier, where he is finishing his doctoral thesis, “The Orphic Moment: Avant-Garde Aesthetics and Ontology Before and After the Fall of the Soviet Union,” which defines and reconstructs avant-garde ontology and practices in the works of Dmitrii Prigov, Arkadii Dragomoschenko, Aleksandr Skidan, Kirill Medvedev, Anna Glazova, and Nika Skandiaka.
