Contents:

In this short text, I discuss the status of “experimental“ (or difficult) poems, as well as notions of “hybrid poetry,“ as defined in American literature. I consider them as operative terms defining the practice of contemporary poetry on a global scale. From an American context, I discuss contemporary poetry in Serbia and the post-Yugoslav states, against the background of my own verse. In doing so, I try to address myself to the task of construeing the history of radical poetry in Serbia and the post-Yugoslav states, using the term “other tradition,“ developed by art historian Ješa Denegri. Thus, I intend to appraise the history of radical (post-)Yugoslav poetry while trying to place AWIN’s school of poetry, with which I worked at the end of the 1990s and the beginning of the 2000s, within this particular framework.
