The DFG-Centre for Advanced Studies “Russian-Language Poetry in Transition” (FOR 2603) cordially invites you to a guest lecture by Winfried Menninghaus (Frankfurt a. M.) on “Empirical Aesthetics of Poetry”.

Contents:

Humanist scholars of literature widely dismiss empirical work as showing at best “what we already knew” or as mindless measuring. Scientists, in turn, typically do not take any notice of the humanities whatsoever.

Against this background, the talk discusses how the two sides can profit from one another, with a primary focus on what specifically calls for empirical approaches.
